Shayla Mombeleur

Shayla J. Mombeleur is the lead trial associate at Jellison & Nathanson. Attorney Mombeleur joined J&N in 2026 after spending three years defending federal white collar federal cases and state criminal cases at Todd & Weld. Prior to that, she spent five years as a public defender with the Committee for Public Counsel Services where she defended clients facing felony and misdemeanor charges from arrest to final disposition.  She conducted jury trials, represented clients in involuntary commitment matters, and conducted training programs on jury selection.

Attorney Mombeleur helps lead the trial practice arm of the firm and also brings her experience as a trial attorney and creativity to support our general post-conviction litigation practice.

Attorney Mombeleur also fiercely advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion, including her proven leadership in the Massachusetts Bar Association, and her deep commitment to addressing the broken criminal legal system which disparately affects those who are poor and of other minority identities.

An active bar leader, she currently serves as chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, and is a member of the Association’s Executive Management Board.

She obtained her law degree in 2017 from the University of Massachusetts School of Law and undergraduate degree cum laude from Bridgewater State University.
